Angela R. Tate Martinez is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania. Born and raised in the Philadelphia area, she is a graduate of Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, with a certificate in Trial Advocacy.


Angela began her career following graduation as an Assistant Defender at the Defender Association of Philadelphia. In her time there, she represented adult and juvenile clients in criminal matters, including trials for Car Theft, DUI, Assault, Trespass and PFA Contempt, contested expungement hearings, fugitive of justice/extradition proceedings, pre-trial proceedings, preliminary hearings, diversion, bail hearings, and violation of probation hearings.


While attending Temple Law, she was elected President of the Student Bar Association, served on the board of the National Lawyers’ Guild Expungement Project and was a member of the Moot Court Competition Team. At the same time, she gained a wide array of experience in internships and externships in:

·        The homicide unit at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office

·        Reviewing criminal records for the Clean Slate Law project Community Legal Services (CLS)

·        Representing clients in criminal matters at both the Defender Association of Philadelphia and the Montgomery County Office of Public Defender

·        Assisting clients with expungements and drafting expungement petitions at Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity (PLSE), and

·        Representing Clients in family law matters with the Temple Legal Aid Clinic.


Prior to law school, Angela earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University, with a certificate in ethics.

Angela has wanted to help others since she was a child. As an attorney, she enjoys doing that by navigating her clients through difficult situations and educating them throughout the process.


Angela handles Criminal, Family, Civil Rights, Education and Civil Litigation. Angela is a member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, National Lawyer’s Guild, National Police Accountability Project (NPAP) Angela is licensed to Practice Law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
